I've been doing "gentle" de-cluttering for 3 days now! Very doable and not soo overwhelming 😊

These are all great tips! Decluttering can feel overwhelming when it’s just for the sake of getting rid of stuff. I love thinking about how it can help you live a more comfortable, lower-friction life!

This is one of the best articles on decluttering I’ve read in a while. It really hits home.

Great article full of helpful suggestions. I'm glad you put in celebrating. We often think these small accomplishments don't matter, but they do and we need to congratulate ourselves when we accomplish even the smallest task. It is an important step in keeping the forward momentum going. 😊

Thanks so much, Kitty! Exactlyβ€”micro-wins fuel momentum. Appreciate you reading!

Good advice.

I’ve moved house so many times it forced me to declutter!

Haha, that totally counts! Moving is like a masterclass in forced minimalism β€” nothing like 27 boxes of β€œwhy did I keep this?” to teach gratitude for space :)

I think maybe I can do this.

I’ve always been synamental and need this!!

Healthy Seniors (moved)'s avatar

Karen, you can definitely do this - just start small!

As always, great tips. I decluttered when I moved a year ago. I am now finding that I am slowly re-cluttering. This is a good reminder to revisit whether I need something or am falling back into old habits.

Totally normalβ€”clutter creeps back.

Try these:

One-in, one-out rule.

Keep a visible β€œdonate” bin.

10-minute weekly reset (set a timer).

You could also do 30-day β€œmaybe” boxβ€”if you don’t use it, it goes.

You did the hard part already; now it’s light maintenance. You’ve got this!
